These 5 Teas Relieve Stomach Problems

Tea is used in large quantities worldwide. Tea buffs are often unaware of its benefits, it also acts like medicine in many health-related problems.  Many herbal teas are helpful in relieving problems like nausea,  constipation,  indigestion.

To keep the body healthy, the digestion system is most important and you will be surprised to know that digestion can be cured with the help of tea. So let's know about them.

Mint tea

Mint (peppermint) is a green herb emanating from the Mentha Piperita plant, known for its pungent aroma and freshness. Mint tea also provides relief from the problem of stomach upset. Studies on animals and humans have shown that menthol in mint has the ability to relieve digestive problems.

Mint oil is sometimes used to treat irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).  Symptoms like abdominal pain and acidity are reported in IBS.

In a study lasting 4 weeks, 57 patients with IBS were included. Half of these people were given capsules of mint oil twice a day, while the rest were given placebo. Those in the group who took the mint oil capsules received 75 percent relief from the symptoms of IBS, whereas those in the placebo group were only 38 percent.

Mint tea also works like mint oil. However, no study or investigation has been done to this effect yet.

Ginger tea

Ginger has pain-relieving properties. According to a study, taking a supplement containing 1.2 grams of ginger can remove digestive problems.  In this study, 11 such patients were involved in the problem of sour belching. The benefits of ginger supplements can also be found in ginger tea.

Fennel tea

Fennel tastes like licorice and can also be eaten raw or roasted. According to one study, fennel is effective in removing constipation and clearing the stomach. A study was conducted on 86 adults with constipation. Half of these people were given tea to drink aniseed with fennel daily for 28 days, while the rest were given placebo. People who drink fennel get rid of constipation and improve their digestion.

Kombucha Tea

Kombucha tea is a fermented beverage that contains tea leaves, sugar,  bacteria, and yeast. It also contains Vitamin B and many other chemical compounds. Kombucha tea helps to prevent serious diseases such as cleaning the stomach and blood pressure and cancer. 

Senna tea

Senna contains chemicals called cyanides that affect the soft muscles in the stomach and increases bowel movement. It helps in clearing the stomach. Studies have also revealed that senna is the most effective laxative (diarrhea) among adults and children suffering from constipation due to different reasons. Therefore senna tea is the easiest and effective way to relieve constipation.

Scientists also say that the key ingredients present in tea (black, green and oolong) are excellent sources of antioxidants that are beneficial for the heart and also help control cholesterol levels. Apart from this, adding herbs to the tea makes it even more beneficial.
